Underground Pyramid found in Orvieto, Italy

One of the highlights of my 2005 trip to Italy was the opportunity to visit a town in central Italy called Orvieto. It is home to many wonderful sights and was a very interesting couple of hours. While I was there I took a picture of an Etruscan temple that had been discovered in the area. There wasn’t much to it, but it was intriguing none-the-less due to its age.

Just this week news has come out that those Etruscans were really busy in that area! A new artifact has been discovered as they continue to excavate–an underground pyramid that is estimated to be from the 5th century BC, with others that are possibly older still to be discovered.

It is an interesting read for those who enjoy learning about ancient civilizations. You can find the article here.
